Iran:Protesters chanting “Down with Khamenei” in Esfahan and Shiraz

Anti-govenment protest in Tehran, Dec. 27, 2009NCRI – People demonstrated in Esfahan’s Ahmad-Abad Square and districts of Hossein-Abad and Imam Hossein on Thursday, December 30, chanting “Down with Khamenei.” People demonstrated once again in Hossein-Abad later in the afternoon at around 17:00 local time chanting the same slogan.

An undeclared martial law had to be enforced from 19:00 in Hossein-Abad and anti-riot guards were deployed at every 20 meters. People have been chanting “Allahu Akbar” and “down with dictator” on rooftops in the evenings.

In Shiraz, from 14:20 local time, students from School of Electricity in the city’s university staged a gathering to protest against installation of posters in support of the regime which led to clashes with agents of the regime. The clashes spilt over to the streets while students were chanting, “Down with dictator,” “Down with Khamenei,” “dishonored Basij force – expert on every crime” and other anti-regime slogans.
