Iran: Anti-regime slogans in mourning ceremony in Shiraz

NCRI- On Thursday evening, December 24, participants in a mourning ceremony in the holy shrine of Shah-Cheraq in Shiraz, central Iran, chanted anti-regime slogans. The event was held as part of memorials held every year in the Islamic month of Moharram to honor a Shiite leader, Imam Hossein, grandson of Prophet Mohammad, who was killed by tyrannical ruler at the time.

While chanting “Greetings to martyrs – martyr for freedom of Iran” and “This is the month of blood (referring to ultimate sacrifice in resistance) – [but] the ruler will be brought down,” they honored those killed in recent uprisings and expressed their hatred toward the regime in its entirety.

The suppressive forces attacked the ceremony using teargas. A number of participants were arrested whose fates remain unknown.
