Iran: Intensive clashes around Tehran University

Tehran, Dec 7, 2009 - protest by studentsNationwide uprising – Students Day – No 5

NCRI – Agents of the Special Unit using batons attacked demonstrators outside Tehran University who were chanting anti-regime slogans. They were trying to prevent people from joining the students. In Fakhr Razi Street across from the University, young people are hurling stones at the suppressive forces. Intense clashes are taking place.

Suppressive forces are firing into the air to disperse people but clashes outside and around Tehran University continue.

In the past few days, the regime’s agents have been mobilized to suppress students. They have placed large banners before the main entrance gate of the university to prevent public to see the events inside the university.

In Enghelab Square, a large crowd is marching towards Tehran University despite widespread arrests. Clashes in Vali Asr Square still continue. Water cannons have been brought in to disperse people.
