A political prisoner faces execution in Iran

NCRI – Mr. Ehsan (Esma’il) Fattahian, 27, a Kurdish political prisoner is scheduled to be executed in Iran on Wednesday. He was arrested in July 2008 in city of Kamyaran and transferred to the central prison in the city of Sanandaj (capital of Kurdistan province).

The mullahs’ judiciary in Sanandaj sentenced him to 10 years of imprisonment to be served in exile for “waging war against the system.” But as he appealed, the initial verdict was overturned and he was condemned to death.

Mr. Fattahian has been on hunger strike since Sunday in protest to his death sentence.

The Iranian Resistance calls on the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Executions to take immediate measures to save the life of Mr. Ehsan Fattahian.
