International call to save lives of two women sentenced to death

 NCRI – Chair of the Women’s Committee of the NCRI calls on international human rights organizations, in particular the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Special Rapporteur on Violence Against Women, to take urgent measures to prevent implementation of death sentences against two women prisoners.

Akram Mahdavi, 34, with a daughter, was sentenced to death for killing her husband who was 50 years older than her. She has been in jail for the past four years awaiting her sentence to be carried out. Mullahs’ judiciary has reopened her case and the death sentence is threatening her life.

Mohabat Mahmoudi, 37, with five children, sentenced to death for killing a man who wanted to rape her. She has been in Orumieh Central Prison for the past nine years depriving her young children of their mother’s care.
