Former political prisoner re-arrested in Tehran

NCRI – Agents of the Iranian regime’s infamous Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) raided the residence of a former political prisoner, Mr. Javad Lari, in Tehran on September 15. The agents arrested Mr. Lari and transferred him to Evin prison. Mr. Lari, supporter of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), was in prison in 1980s.

The MOIS agents searched and ransacked Mr. Lari’s residence during the raid, confiscated some of his belongings such as family photo albums and video clips of the recent anti-government uprising in Iran.

The Iranian Resistance calls on all human rights organizations, particularly the United Nations Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, to take urgent measures regarding the deteriorating state of human rights in Iran and the release of political prisoners.
