Iran: Appointment of infamous Ejei as the attorney general

gholam-hossein-mohseni-ejeiNCRI – Mullah Larijani, the new head of the Iranian Judiciary, appointed the infamous interrogator and torturer, Gholam-Hussein Mohseni Ejei, as the new Attorney General. During the last four years, in his position as the Minister of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), Ejei has been one of the highest ranking officials in the mullahs’ regime responsible for executions, killings and torture in the country. During this period, a large number of prisoners were executed in the regime’s many torture-chambers and prisons.

In his various positions in the government during the 1980’s, such as the Representative of the Revolutionary Prosecutor in the MOIS and the Chief of the Revolutionary Court’s 3rd Circuit, Ejei has had a major role in arrests, torture and executions of dissidents and in issuing execution orders of thousands of political prisoners especially during the 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran.

As the Deputy Prosecutor of the Special Court of Clergy in 1995 and as the Prosecutor of the Special Court of Clergy since 1999, Ejei played a role in the arrest, imprisonment and execution of a large number of dissident clergies in Iran.

The appointment of infamous Ejei as the country’s Attorney General is to set the stage for an increase in the number of political arrests and executions by a regime that is beset by deep fear of continuation and spread of the Iranian people’s nationwide uprising.
