Karoubi: “Intelligence and security apparatus suppresses people”

Mehdi KaroubiNCRI – One of the regimes’s defeated presidential contenders, Mehdi Karoubi, sent a letter to the clerical regime’s Intelligence Minister, published on Saturday, which revealed a small portion of crimes committed by the regime’s suppressive forces against the Iranian people.

The letter said: The country’s intelligence and security apparatus has become the most frightening apparatus for the suppression of people. Those who refer to themselves as security and intelligence forces beat youth, detain them in illegal detention centers, and subject them to the worst kinds of psychological torture and violent treatment, without being held accountable.

Karoubi added: We are now at a point where those imprisoned at [the notorious prison] Evin thank God for being in that prison instead of the illegal detention centers.

Karoubi also said that he does not consider Ahmadinejad “as someone with the backing of the people’s votes” and therefore does not view his presidency as “legitimate and legal.” He said he will write Ahmadinejad a letter.

Karoubi also listed the “violent attack against the university [of Tehran] campus,” “the chain killings,” and “the death of Zahra Kazemi,” and concluded, “It looks like history is repeating itself,” because “the culprits remain unidentified and the investigation of these cases have been forgotten by the officials.”

He added, “It is upon the Intelligence Ministry to identify and announce who the culprits of these incidents are instead of fabricated shows linking those involved in the incidents to the Monafeqin [derogatory term used by the regime to refer to the main opposition, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, PMOI].”

He asked, “Why do the measures undertaken by forces acting as plainclothes agents and the Bassij never come under investigation?” while “Major General Firouzabadi, the commander of armed forces, writes a letter to Imam Mehdi and complains about the murder of forces under his command?”

Karoubi concluded his letter by pointing to a specific historical event and without directly naming Ali Khamenei, the regime’s Supreme Leader, implicitly stated that with such a leader we will not be able to get anywhere.
