NCRI – On April 23, 2009, the state-run daily, Jomhouri, explicitly called for an increase in armed attacks and violence in Iraq. The paper, which reflects the views of the Iranian regime’s Supreme Leader, wrote, “Developments in Iraq demonstrate that Iraqis are ignoring the domestic events in the US, including the new administration which came to power with new promises, and continue to insist on their demands calling for the occupying and foreign forces to leave the country.”

“They have not been influenced by the slogans and promises of the occupying forces. In view of these developments, the Iraqi nation has concluded that the Americans will never willfully leave Iraq, and so an increase in attacks against Americans forces must be reviewed in this context,” Jomhouri added.
