End executions by stoning in Iran – Amnesty International

NCRI — On Tuesday the London-based Amnesty International In report titled, "Iran: End executions by stoning" called on Iranian regime to immediately abolish "grotesque and horrific" executions by stoning.

The majority of those sentenced to death by stoning are women, who suffer disproportionately from such punishment, Amnesty International said.

The report says they are not treated equally before the law and are particularly vulnerable to unfair trials because they are more likely to be illiterate and therefore sign confessions to crimes they did not commit.

The penal code of the mullahs ruling in Iran lays down the size of stones crowds should use to stone to death.  This barbaric regulation is specifically designed to increase the suffering of the victims.

Article 104 of penal code of the regime of Iran states the stones used should "not be large enough to kill the person by one or two strikes, nor should they be so small that they could not be defined as stones".

The penal code dictates that men should be buried to their waists and women to the necks for the purposes of death by stoning.
