Iran-Nuclear: NCRI warns of mullahs’ ploy to buy time and prevent referral to Security Council

Nuclear site in IranTwo days ago, in a transparent ploy, the clerical regime "declared its readiness to engage in negotiations, without any pre-conditions, with all members of the International Atomic Energy Agency, including the EU-3." The state-run media also reported that the regime had accepted IAEA inspection of a number of sites it had requested to visit. News agencies wrote that Tehran had accepted inspections of Lavizan-Parchin site.

Mr. Mohammad Mohaddessin, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, said, "Having failed in its hollow threats and bluffs to blackmail the international community, and fearing a global consensus on the need to refer its nuclear file to the United Nations Security Council, the clerical regime has resorted to this demagogic ploy to buy time and prevent referral to the Security Council. The willingness to negotiate, however, comes as the clerical regime’s leaders consistently emphasize the intent to covert uranium in Isfahan facility, a blatant breach of the Paris Accord."

Allowing the inspection of Lavizan 2 and Parchin, even if true, has little if any value, because the Iranian Resistance had revealed extensive nuclear activities at these sites on April 24, 2004, or 18 months ago. Regrettably, no inspections of those sites have taken place so far, which has given the regime ample time to transfer or conceal the main equipment for banned nuclear activities.

NCRI’s Foreign Affairs Committee Chair underscored that the mullahs had already admitted to have taken maximum advantage of the two-year talks with the EU to alleviate their deficiencies, complete different projects in Isfahan and heavy water facilities in Arak as well as manufacturing centrifuges. "The international community must therefore ignore these ploys and not waver in referring Tehran’s nuclear file to the Security Council for the imposition of a comprehensive oil and technological embargo against the ruling theocracy," he said.
