Iran: Families of students protest outside UN office in Tehran

NCRI – Yesterday, a group of families and relatives of students detained on the Student Day protests by the State Security Forces (SSF) gathered outside the UN office in Tehran.

The protesters carried pictures of their loved ones arrested and transferred to unknown locations on December 9, 2007. They demanded the immediate release of all imprisoned students.

The mullahs’ regime fearing the outcome of such moves by the demonstrators blocked the entrance gate to the UN building preventing the crowd from reaching the officials inside. They were trying to submit their complaints to UN authorities.
Despite desperate attempts by the SSF to keep the families away from the UN building a representative met with protestors and promised them to consider their requests.

The Iranian Resistance calls on the UN Secretary General, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and all international human rights organizations to condemn the regime’s arbitrary arrests of students and refer its dossier to the UN Security Council.
