Jordan Accuses Baghdad of yielding to Iran, rejects Iraqi oil offer

NCRI – The Saudi daily, al-Riyadh reported on Tuesday that high-level Jordanian sources revealed that the Jordanian government have rejected an offer by government of Nuri al-Maliki "to strengthen political relations" in return for providing Oman with oil.
The same sources emphasize that "the Jordanian government accused the Iraqi government to giving in to Iran and fueling sectarian differences in the country, resulting in tensions in relations with Jordan", al-Riyadh added.

Amman, Jordan (Saudi daily Al-Riyadh),  June 17, 2007:

High-level Jordanian sources revealed that the Jordanian government have rejected an offer by the al-Maliki government "to strengthen political relations" in return for providing Amman with oil.

The sources confirmed that the "Jordanian-Iraqi relations are almost nonexistent due to the sectarian divisions in Iraq."  The sources add, "The Jordanian government responded harshly to the offer made by a high-level Iraqi delegation to Amman a few days ago, offering to swap oil for normalizing relations with the government of Nuri al-Maliki."

The same sources emphasize that "the Jordanian government accused the Iraqi government to giving in to Iran and fueling sectarian differences in the country, resulting in tensions in relations with Jordan."

Sources indicate, "Jordan has informed the Iraqi government repeatedly the need to involve all political factions in the political affaires of the country, but the al-Maliki’s government insists on sectarian interests," and stressed that "the Iraqi situation would get worse if the political process remained distant from national reconciliation, including the whole political spectrum."
