Mccaul Calls For More Significant Action On Iran For Nuclear Program
EXCLUSIVE — House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) has called on the Biden administration to take more significant action against Iran for its “ongoing nuclear provocation.”
McCaul sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday expressing his position that the United States should advance a formal finding of Iran’s non-compliance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and seek a referral to the United Nations Security Council at next week’s International Atomic Energy Agency Board of Governors meeting.
“The administration must take swift and urgent action to directly address Iran’s ongoing nuclear provocation,” McCaul wrote in the letter, which the Washington Examiner obtained. “This must go beyond previous censures, including those adopted by the [Board of Governors] in 2022.
Special UN Human Rights Rapporteur Expresses Concern Over Increased Executions in Iran
In a recent report published by the United Nations on March 1, Javaid Rehman, the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Iran, expressed deep concerns regarding the escalating rate of executions in the country. Rehman highlighted that in the latest findings, at least 834 individuals were executed in 2023, marking a significant 43% increase compared to the 582 reported executions in 2022.
Rehman’s report underlined the alarming trend of forced disappearances and hasty, arbitrary executions of both real and perceived political dissidents, including children. He emphasized that events such as these during the years 1981, 1982, and 1988 have not been subject to proper investigation, scrutiny, or accountability by the authorities.
The report referenced a significant judicial decision made in July 2022, where the Stockholm Regional Court, exercising its universal jurisdiction, convicted Hamid Nouri, a former prison guard, for his involvement in war crimes and murder during the massacre of political prisoners in 1988. Nouri was sentenced to life imprisonment for his role in the atrocities committed during that period.

Despite extensive efforts by Iran’s regime to convince the people to vote in its sham parliamentary elections, the event, held on March 1, was met with widespread boycott by a public that is fed up with tyranny, lack of freedoms, and corruption. According to reports by PMOI activists in Iran, voting stations were empty in most locations in both large and small cities across the country.
This morning, regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei pleaded with the people again to vote in his sham elections. “All eyes are on our country,” Khamenei said. The Mehdi Ebrahimi high-school in Tehran’s Sepah Street, which has been turned into a voting station, was empty, according to videos sent by reporters for the PMOI website.

Sarina Jahani, 20, is spending her two-year sentence in the women’s ward of Evin Prison. Sarina Jahani was arrested on September 16, 2023, on the anniversary of the 2022 nationwide uprising in Iran sparked by the death of Zhina Mahsa Amini in the custody of the Morality Police. Security forces in Shahriar, one of the counties of Tehran Province, arrested Sarina and took her to Qarchak Prison.
Some 600 women were arrested in Tehran on the anniversary of Iran protests. Sarina was among those arrested in Shahriar. She was subsequently transferred to Evin Prison, and temporarily released on bail on November 4, 2023.
Iran: 38% Food Inflation, Higher Than Annual Inflation
The inflation rate for food items is 38%, higher than the annual inflation rate, according to published statistics.
A report by the regime’s Jamaran website on February 29 indicated that canned tuna was at the top of the list of items experiencing higher inflation than the annual rate.
Based on the report, after tuna, other food items such as beef or veal, lamb meat, mushrooms, raisins, rainbow trout, watermelon, cantaloupe, processed chicken, powdered milk, pistachios, walnut kernels, packaged foreign tea, sugar, dry sweets, walnut kernels, sugar, and oranges have prices exceeding the average annual inflation rate of 36%.
