Maryam Rajavi met with Ms. Ingrid Betancourt at the headquarters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran in Paris. Ms. Betancourt is a private plaintiff in the case of the clerical regime’s terrorist diplomat, Assadollah Assadi. Referring to the shameful deal between Belgium and the Iranian regime as a capitulation to the policy of hostage-taking, she said, “I was a hostage myself, and I know that hostage-takers are encouraged by gaining concessions and continuing this policy. The right policy is to stand firm and resolute against them.”

Maryam Rajavi pointed out, “The regime’s strategy in foreign policy is terrorism, hostage-taking, and blackmail. The freedom of a terrorist, who led the largest criminal act in Europe after World War II, is a disgraceful ransom to terrorism and hostage-taking, in clear violation of the court’s ruling.”

Iran regime SAVAK VAVAK

In 1979, Iran experienced a revolution that aimed to overthrow the oppressive rule of the monarchy. Hopes were high that the new leadership would dismantle all repressive institutions, particularly the notorious security police known as SAVAK, which had been responsible for the torture and death of countless dissenters. Despite the expectations of most people who had bravely fought against Shah’s oppressive forces on the streets, the revolution was seized by the regime of Ruhollah Khomeini, which diverted it from its original path. Consequently, most previous repressive forces and the regime’s torture chambers remained intact, ultimately aiding Khomeini in establishing a new and brutal medieval regime.
