Nightly demonstrations in Abdanan, torching statues and symbols of clerical rule
On Wednesday evening, February 1, the 139th day of the nationwide uprising and on the eve of the anniversary of the anti-monarchy revolution, defiant youths in Abdanan staged demonstrations in the streets by lighting fires and shouting “Death to Khamenei,” “Death to the dictator,” and “This year, is a year of sacrifice, Seyyed Ali (Khamenei) will be overthrown.” They destroyed and torched the statue of an unknown Basij in the Basij square.
In Isfahan, the youths staged a nightly demonstration chanting, “For every fallen person, one thousand will rise,” and the slogans of “Death to the dictator” could be heard from the buildings.

In many parts of Tehran, including Shahr Ziba, Bagh Feiz, Ekbatan, Ferdows Boulevard, Janat Abad, Shahran, Geisha, Darband, Narmak, Tehranpars, and Shahrak Negin, cries of “Death to Khamenei, damned be Khomeini,” “Death to the child-killer rulers,” “We didn’t make sacrifices to reach a compromise and praise the murderous leader (Khamenei),” and “Death to the dictator” echoed from buildings and rooftops.
Defiant youths in Fulad Shahr of Isfahan staged a nightly demonstration with anti-government slogans, and in Fereydoun Kenar in Mazandaran province, set a banner with Khamenei’s picture on fire.
On Tuesday evening, young people chanted slogans in various parts of Tehran and shouted, “Death to Basiji,” “Death to IRGC,” “No to monarchy, no to Leadership (Khamenei), down with tyrant,” and “Monarchy and clerical rule are both criminals.”
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said that the defiant youths of Abdanan showed again the Iranian people’s resolve to overthrow the mullahs’ regime with their courageous protests and by targeting monuments symbolizing the mullahs’ rule. Their enthusiasm reminds the Iranian people’s passion and courage during the 1979 anti-monarchic revolution and promises the victory of the Iranian people’s democratic revolution.
