Hypocrisy, Special Privileges, and Discrimination Has Caused Stir in Tehran
Following a new fiasco making headlines about a state official’s son being involved in the import of VPNs to Iran, various factions of the regime are playing the blame game.
The son of Ansieh Khazali, a deputy of the regime’s president Ebrahim Raisi in women and family affairs has been exposed for his trips to Canada and doing business by selling VPNs to Iranians and thus violating internet state rules.
Mohammad Reza Jalaipour, a former Mohammad Khatami campaign manager, wrote on Telegram: “The society notices the hypocrisy, the contradiction that officials constantly attack the West and constantly talk about the new East-oriented world system and the bragging about Iran’s achievements. But people also see that sometimes these officials have sent their own offspring to live in developed countries. They prefer the West to Iran, Russia, and China.”
Meanwhile, former MOIS interrogator Mohammad Sadegh Kushki, said: “Senior officials should make their minds about this situation. Of course, this problem has existed throughout all administrations and it is not unique to Mr. Raisi’s government. If the officials and their children have used personal capital for traveling abroad, then there would be no problem and they could not be prosecuted from a legal point of view. We hope that the officials did not send their children abroad using the nation’s treasury.”
In recent years, Iranian state media have occasionally admitted to the high number of “senior officials” whose relatives are living abroad, confirming that there are over 4,000 sons and daughters who have left Iran and are living a luxury life abroad.
