NCRI – Reports received from polling stations in Tehran and various other cities indicate that the Iranian people have overwhelmingly boycotted the sham Assembly of Experts elections.

In most polling stations in various populous districts of Tehran, such as Amir-Abad, Kargar, Nirou Havaii, Afsarieh, Pirouzi, Ekbatan, Mohammadi and Rah-Ahan streets, the number of voters until noon rarely grew to more than 20 people.

Reports received from various cities, including Khorramabad, Marivan, Boukan, Ardebil, Arak, Khouy, Garmsar, Zahedan, Rasht, Zanjan and Abhar, state that polling stations were empty in the morning.

In Tehran and elsewhere, streets are far less busy than they usually are on Fridays, with most people staying at home.

Young people in the town of Garmsar – where the regime’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was born – have damaged banners and billboards advertising the regime’s candidates for the town. In Khorramabad, young people have ripped up candidates’ propaganda statements and leaflets and thrown their photos into garbage bins.

Revolutionary Guards and other suppressive forces are widely present in streets and centers where polling is taking place. In many cases, the number of Revolutionary Guards and State Security Forces agents is greater than the number of voters and people in the streets.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the Iranian Resistance’s President-elect, had since two months ago called on the Iranian people to boycott the mullahs’ sham Assembly of Experts elections. She called on them to remain in their homes on December 15 so as to turn this day into one of boycotting the entire religious dictatorship and rejecting the mullahs’ illegitimate rule.
