AKI — The European Court of Justice has overturned a European Union decision to include the People’s Mujahadeen of Iran (MEK) on the EU terror blacklist. The court ruling Tuesday annuls a 2002 decision to freeze all the European assets of the exiled Iranian resistance movements. In its ruling the court said the 2002 decision did not give the group a chance to defend itself.
The Paris-based movemen is also listed as a terror organisation by the United States. It was formed by university students in Tehran in the 1960s and says it seeks to overthrow the Iranian clerical regime by peaceful means.
