FBI Warns Over Iranian Cyber Group, Tells Organizations to up Their Defenses
The FBI has issued an alert detailing the tools, techniques, and tactics of an Iranian group, giving US organizations tips to defend against its malicious cyber activities.
Back in October 2021, a grand jury in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York indicted two Iranian nationals employed by Emennet Pasargad for computer intrusion, computer fraud, voter intimidation, interstate threats, and conspiracy offenses for their alleged participation in a campaign aimed at influencing and interfering with the 2020 US Presidential Election.

Tortured Iranian Kurdish prisoner Kamal Sharifi, unjustly jailed since 2008, has suffered irreparable harm to his health and faces risks to his life because of prolonged deliberate denial of adequate specialized medical care for his heart disease and other health problems. Given his ill-health, he is at heightened risk of death or severe illness if he contracts Covid-19 in prison. Officials have also deprived him of family visits for nearly 14 years, causing him mental distress.

U.K. Man Pleads Guilty in Scheme to Sell U.S. Tech to Iran
A British man pleaded guilty in Washington to charges related to illegal exports of sensitive military technologies to Iran in violation of U.S. sanctions, the Justice Department announced.
Saber Fakih, 46, conspired with others in 2017 and 2018 to ship to Iran a high-powered, microwave-based directed-energy weapon system and technology that can be used to take control of an aerial drone, the department said in a statement Thursday. At the same time, a federal indictment was unsealed charging four others in the alleged conspiracy, the government said.

Iran Only Country To Reject UN General Assembly Resolution Condemning Holocaust Denial
January 20 was a historic day at the United Nations and in the history of mankind and justice. On this day, in a resolution, the UN General Assembly unanimously condemned the denial of one of the darkest eras of humanity, the Holocaust. The resolution tabled by Israel and Germany had the strong support of all UN nations except for Iran. In their speeches, the Israeli and German ambassadors stressed the importance of adopting the resolution. The resolution calls on all countries and social media owners to actively combat anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial or distortion. The UN General Assembly has 193 members, which approved the resolution by consensus without a vote.

Who Is To Blame for 500,000 COVID-19 Victims in Iran?
While the number of people who lost their lives to coronavirus has reached 5.6 million across the globe, the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced that the number of Covid-19 fatalities in Iran had surpassed 500,000. In other words, around one-tenth of the total deaths worldwide were recorded in Iran.
The MEK has tallied this statistic through its domestic network, which has expanded in 547 cities across Iran’s 31 provinces. In this context, the MEK has issued daily statements revealing the hazardous coronavirus condition inside the country in contrast to false declarations provided by the Health Ministry.
Iran Denying Medical Care To Political Prisoner With COVID-19 Symptoms
Political prisoner Payam Shakiba has been denied access to proper medical treatment despite contracting Covid-19 at Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison. The activist was arrested on January 3, after appearing before the Implementation Unit of Evin Prison’s Court, and was transferred to the prison to start serving a 13-month prison sentence. In September 2021, Shakiba was sentenced by Branch 26 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, presided over by Judge Mian Afshari, to 13 months in prison, a two-year ban on leaving the country, a two-year ban on membership in political groups, and confiscation of his mobile phone and laptop.
Shohreh Hosseini Imprisoned in Evin With a Three-year Sentence
The First Branch of the Evin Courthouse summoned Shohreh Hosseini, an interpreter, and civil activist, to begin serving her sentence. Tehran’s Revolutionary Court has sentenced Shohreh Hosseini to three years and three months in prison. The 26th Branch of Tehran’s Revolutionary Court tried Shohreh Hosseini on January 18, 2021, and sentenced her to four years and two months. Her charges included “assembly and collusion to disrupt national security,” “membership in opposition groups,” and “propaganda against the state.” Later, the sentence was commuted to three years and three months.
