Iran-France : Maryam Rajavi congratulates Segolene Royal on victory

NCRI – Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, congratulated Mrs. Segolene Royal on her victory as the Socialist Party’s candidate for the 2007 French presidential elections.

“The Iranian Resistance for liberty and democracy and I share the joy and happiness that you expressed when your victory in the internal elections of the Socialist Party was announced”, she said to Ms. Royal.

She added, “This victory starts a new chapter in the history of the French Republic. Futhermore, it conveys a message of ‘genuine liberty’ which is one of the main objectives of our movement”.

This is now a universal experience, Mrs. Rajavi said, adding, the participation of women in political leadership is a necessary condition for the establishment of democracy. This choice of the Socialists may be an indication of the electoral direction of the people of France as a whole.

Stating that Ms. Royal symbolized men and women longing for change, Mrs. Rajavi appealed for a “Watershed in France’s foreign policy, particularly towards Iran.” She said, “This regime is indeed the cause of Islamist fundamentalism, which is a major threat to peace and security in the world.”

Mrs. Rajavi added that this watershed would allow France to regain its “deserving reputation as the cradle of liberties in the world”.
