Ongoing Unrest In Iranian Cities
Despite the high risk and limited bandwidth of the internet in Iran, the reports coming from inside the country suggest that Tabriz, Shadegan as well as in Sistan and Baluchistan are witnessing unrest and protests. Today, different state-run outlets have been warning that officials must respond to the current crisis before it gets out of control.

Iran: Over 336,800 Deaths, Record Numbers Sounding More Alarm Bells
Over 336,800 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Saturday afternoon local time, July 24. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 88,532, around a fourth of the actual figure.
The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 78,526 in Tehran, 22,825 in Isfahan, 21,426 in Khuzestan, 20,425 in Razavi Khorasan, 13,025 in Mazandaran, 11,417 in Fars, 9683 in Alborz, 9276 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 8183 in Kerman, 7885 in Golestan, 6878 in Markazi, 5772 in Yazd, 5580 in Hormozgan, 5390 in Semnan, 3804 in Bushehr, 3501 in Ilam, 3101 in South Khorasan, and 2735 in Chaharmahal & Bakhtiri. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

Cities Across Iran Join Khuzestan on Ninth Day of Protests Over Severe Water Shortage
Protests over water shortage in Iran’s Khuzestan province continued for the ninth consecutive night on Friday despite security and repressive measures by the regime’s state security forces and a state-imposed internet blackout. In Ahvaz, protesters took control of the city center by burning tires and causing traffic jams in Dayereh Alley. They also blocked the Ahvaz expressway that rings the city.
Khamenei Speaks on Khuzestan Water Shortage, Lays Blame on Others
After more than a week of intense protests in Khuzestan, regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei shed crocodile tears and made a failed attempt at expressing sympathy with the people of Khuzestan on Friday. “In the past seven-to-eight days, one of our main concerns was the problems of Khuzestan and the people’s water problem. It is really painful for anyone to see Khuzestan province—with all its loyal people, with all the facilities and natural resources it has, with all the factories it has—to see the people living in such conditions that they become upset,” Khamenei said in televised remarks.
Over 100 Detained in Water Protests in SW Iran
Last night Iranians in the southwestern province of Khuzestan took to the streets for the ninth night to demand water despite the brutal crackdown and internet blackout. Protests started on July 15 and have spread to over 30 cities. Nine protesters were killed in the past nights, and many were injured and detained. 20-year-old Omid Azarkhush was killed on July 22 in Aligoudarz western Iran. A police official in Lorestan confirmed a 20-year-old was killed, blaming it on “anti-revolutionaries”. He said the young man was killed with pellets used by “anti-revolutionaries.” Pellet shots are usually used by riot police to crack down on protests.
Three Detained in Tehran for Supporting Khuzestan Water Protests
Three men were detained in Tehran by security forces yesterday for supporting the Khuzestan water protests. According to the Human Rights News Agency, they were identified as Mohammad Niazi, Omid Saeedi, and Mostafa Arfai. The three men were transferred to the quarantine section of the Great Tehran Penitentiary. The three were detained after they called in support of the people in Khuzestan on Instagram.
Khuzestan, Iran’s Richest Province Is Also the Most Miserable Province
There is no doubt that Khuzestan province alone is the richest province in Iran in terms of natural resources. But in terms of indicators of misery, it can be said that Khuzestan ranks at the top of the country’s provinces. A province with many miseries created by the regime. One day the people must experience power cuts. The other day they must experience devastating floods. Another day they must experience drought in a region which is one of the most watered regions in Iran. Another day they must experience darken sky caused by dust and sandstorms caused by the destruction of wetlands and finally, they must experience the overflow of the municipal sewage system to the streets of their cities.
