Iran’s Regime Withdraws Appeal for Terrorist Diplomat

Assadollah Assadi, an Iranian diplomat sentenced to 20 years in prison for a bombing attempt against a major Iranian Resistance gathering, dropped his appeal on Wednesday in Belgium and will serve his sentence. Assadi was arrested along with three of his co-conspirators in June 2018 as they prepared to bomb the Free Iran rally, the annual gathering of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), held in France. Assadi was the key coordinator of the attack and personally transferred the bomb from Tehran to Vienna, where his diplomatic mission was located. The terrorists were tried in a court in Antwerp, Belgium. At the time, Assadi tried to raise his diplomatic immunity as a pretext to avoid accountability, which was ruled out by the judge.

Inmates Left Unattended Amid Spread of Coronavirus in Behbahan Prison

Dozens of inmates have contracted Covid-19 with the spread of the fourth wave of coronavirus in Behbahan Prison. An old prisoner died of Covid-19 in the prison. The prisoner, known as Abdullah Palang, died of shortness of breath in front of the prisoners at 5:00 AM. He was left unattended in prison and was cared for by his cellmates until his death.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 541 cities had exceeded 278,300. The number of victims in Tehran has reached 64,171, Isfahan 18,270, Khorasan Razavi 17,260, Khuzestan 17,049, Lorestan 11,513, Mazandaran 11,510, East Azerbaijan 11,383, West Azerbaijan 10,363, Gilan 9,664, Fars 8,712, Alborz 7,373, Sistan and Baluchestan 6,396, Central Province 5,803, Kermanshah 5,564, Semnan 4,890, Yazd 4,812,Kurdistan 4,807, Ardabil 3,527, Hormozgan 3,235, Qazvin 3,234, Bushehr 2,894, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari 2,280, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad 2,141.

Iran –1,112 Families Of MEK Martyrs Urge The UN To Prevent The Destruction Of Their Loved Ones’ Graves

On Tuesday, May 4, 2021, in a letter to the United Nations Secretary-General, EU leaders, and the President and officials in the United States, 1,112 families of the martyrs of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), urged them to take immediate action to prevent further destruction of their relatives’ graves by the religious fascism ruling Iran. For years, the clerical regime has been systematically and gradually destroying the graves of political executions in Tehran and other cities as part of an anti-human and criminal policy to eliminate the traces of its crimes against humanity.

This morning, the preliminary hearing was held in the Antwerp Court of Appeal in Belgium to hear the appeal of the perpetrators of the bombing plot at the Iranian Resistance’s Free Iran grand gathering in June 2018 in Paris. Fearing a bigger defeat, through its lawyers, the clerical regime withdrew the appeal against the conviction of its diplomat-terrorist, Assadollah Assadi.
