On Wednesday morning, February 10, 2021, on the anniversary of the 1979 anti-monarchic revolution, defiant youths in Tehran and various cities in Iran simultaneously set fire to entrances and headsign of Basij repressive centers as well as to  images of Khomeini, Khamenei, and Qassem Soleimani in 22 locations.

In addition to Tehran, these actions were carried out in the cities of Robat Karim, Mashhad, Isfahan, Ahvaz, Bandar Abbas, Hamadan, Neyshabur, Chenaran, Sabzevar, Kazerun, Masal (Gilan) and Shirvan.

The occasion is typically marked by parades and demonstrations at which public participation is heavily encouraged, actively facilitated, and even made mandatory for government employees. This year’s festivities were not exception, but they took a different form as a result of widespread public awareness of the ill-managed coronavirus pandemic.

The Hill: Bipartisan resolution supports Iranian public amid Biden push to reenter nuclear deal

More than 100 Democratic and Republican House lawmakers have called on President Biden to “remain firm” in holding the Iranian government accountable for its destabilizing activities in the region, including its nuclear program, and hold it accountable for human rights violations.

The bipartisan letter was sent to the president Thursday and corresponded with the introduction of a resolution co-sponsored by 112 lawmakers from both sides of the aisle reaffirming U.S. support for Iranian civil society.

Iran: Coronavirus death toll in 480 cities surpasses 214,700

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced Friday, February 12, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 480 cities across Iran had surpassed 214,700. The number of victims in Tehran is 51,521, Khorasan Razavi 14,390, Isfahan 13,750, Mazandaran 9,002, Lorestan 8,783, East Azarbaijan 8,153, Golestan 5,574, Central Province 4,328, Qazvin 2,384, Zanjan 2,325, Bushehr 2,164, and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad 1,609.

The US Representative Office of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI-US) welcomes the bipartisan U.S. House resolution, H.Res.118, “Expressing support for the Iranian people’s desire for a democratic, secular, and nonnuclear Republic of Iran and condemning violations of human rights and state-sponsored terrorism by the Iranian Government,” introduced by Congressmen Tom McClintock (R-CA) and Brad Sherman (D-CA). With 113 original sponsor and cosponsors from both sides of the aisle, the resolution was brought to the administration’s attention in a letter to President Biden, as it crafts its policy on Iran.

Iran: Political prisoner Hashem Khaster pens open letter, calls for Khamenei to resign

In an open letter to Iranian regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei, political prisoner and teacher activist Hashem Khastar wrote: “With all these executions, political and non-political prisoners, addiction, divorces, and corruption in the country, when are you going to acknowledge what you’ve done to the people of Iran? The people will soon give your answer with raised fists in the streets!”

Khastar, who is the leader of the Association of Teachers Union, describing his conditions in Mashhad’s Vakilabad prison as such: “You’ve created a prison within the prison for me. [Prison authorities] control my phone calls with my family on three points. The agent takes me from the room to the office of the supervisor to make the phone call in front of the head of the prison ward or the prison guard. At the same time, the prison security and the intelligence office listen to my conversation.”

Iran: Regime foreign minister frustrated over conviction of terrorist diplomat Assadollah Assadi

The Iranian regime’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif acknowledged the regime’s major defeat following Antwerp’s court verdict against Assadollah Assadi, a career diplomat who was caught by European authorities while he was plotting to bomb a major Iranian opposition rally in France. Assadi was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his leading role in the terrorist plot. Three other co-conspirators in the attack were sentenced to 15-18 years in prison each.
