The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK) announced this afternoon, November 15, 2020, that the Coronavirus has taken the lives of more than 155,500 in 465 cities across Iran. The death toll in various provinces include: 37,891 in Tehran, 11,530 in Khorasan Razavi, 8,820 in Khuzestan, 8,725 in Isfahan, 6,590 in Lorestan, 6,407 in Mazandaran, 5,762 in East Azerbaijan, 5,456 in Gilan, 5,134 in West Azerbaijan, 4,230 in Fars, 3,985 in Hamedan, 3,393 in Kermanshah, 2,890 in Central, 2,780 in Kurdistan 2,685 in Yazd, 2,621 in Kerman, 1,699 in Bushehr, 1,590 in Qazvin, 1,385 in Ilam, and 1,099 in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad.
Mohsen Hashemi, head of Tehran City Council was quoted by Tasnim news agency today as saying, “According to Health Ministry officials, the danger of reaching 1,000 deaths a day soon exists. It is not clear who opposes a lockdown in the National Coronavirus Task Force (NCCT), where the president has the last word. Perhaps, it would be better if the NCCT Spokesman engaged in some transparency. Why despite the insistence on a lockdown by Tehran’s Governor, the NCCT, the Health Minister, members of the COVID-19 Sciences Committee, deputies, and members of the Parliament Health Committee along with experts in health care, the lockdown is not being implemented? Even the president’s office says Rouhani is not opposed. So, who is opposed that no one knows him?”
Majid Nasirai, a parliament deputy from Ferdows, told the State radio today, “The situation of Coronavirus in the country is growing worse by the day. In my district, the figure for those infected is several times the national average. Regrettably, South Khorasan Province has a very bad situation. Across the world, 240 out of every 10,000 infected patients die. In Iran, however, about 500 out of every 10,000 people die. This issue must be considered.”
