Transfer of Political Prisoner Soheil Arabi To Evin To Fabricate New Charges Against Him and a Retrial

Call for immediate action

to secure the release of political prisoners and for an international inquiry into the condition of prisons

Political prisoner Soheil Arabi, 35, has been transferred to solitary confinement in Ward 2-A of Evin Prison. This section is under the control of the notorious IRGC intelligence division. About a month ago (September 18, 2020), Soheil was suddenly transferred from the Greater Tehran Prison (Fashafuyeh) to an unknown location. He was not allowed to have any visits during that period and could not contact his family. This is the third time this year that Arabi has been transferred to Ward 2-A and interrogated.

The regime aims to file a case against him under the ridiculous pretext of “propaganda against the state” and to put him on trial again to prevent his release because his prison term is about to end.

Prison guards have repeatedly attacked, harassed, and tortured Soheil in the Greater Tehran Prison. In one of these attacks, they broke his nose, which was never treated, and as a result, he is still suffering while breathing.

The Iranian Resistance once again urges the United Nations Secretary-General, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and relevant UN rapporteurs as well as international human rights organizations to take immediate action to save the lives of political prisoners in Iran and to establish an international commission of inquiry to visit Iranian prisons and meet with prisoners, particularly the political prisoners.
