NCRI-50On Tuesday, October 20, 2020, workers at the Parsian natural-gas processing plant in Lamerd, Fars Province, went on strike for the fourth straight day. They have staged protests against poor living conditions, delayed wages, and inattention to their demands. Prior to this, these workers had also gone on strike for several weeks throughout August and September, along with workers at oil and gas and petrochemical processing plants.

Also, on Tuesday, workers at the Razi Petrochemical company in Mahshahr went on strike for the third consecutive day. They are continuing their protest against delayed wages and discrimination between permanent employees and temporary wage earners when it comes to salaries and benefits.

On Monday, October 19, a group of retired employees at the National Oil Company in Ahvaz and Isfahan organized protests calling for their rights and demands to be addressed.

In a separate development, on October 19 and October 20, for the first time, livestock owners in Tehran staged protests against the lack of sufficient food for their animals and unacceptable living conditions. Due to high prices and inadequate supply of animal feed and other requirements, these owners say that they cannot maintain their businesses. Mismanagement and corruption have all but destroyed this industry.
