Due to an Earthquake in North East Iran 400 People Are Injured

NCRI – An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.7 on Richter scale took place in Bojnoord (northeastern Iran) on Saturday 13 May, killed three. The epicenter of this earthquake has been reported “Pishqaleh” in North Khorasan. Since the report of this earthquake, 26 aftershocks with intensities of 1.0-2.8 on the Richter scale has shaken Bojnoord. Head of regime’s Disaster Management and Emergency Response in North Khorasan University of Medical Sciences said: The number of victims of Saturday’s earthquake in the province has risen to 400.

According to statistics in the last three decade 13 earthquakes with a strength of 5.5 on the Richter scale have occurred in North Khorasan. The most recent one did happen with a power of 6.2 degrees on the Richter scale of internal waves which had an abundance of human and financial losses in February 1986.

Shahin Fathi, vice president of the State’s Red Crescent’s rescue operation said to Mehr news agency: Bodies of three victims have been found. Two of the victims, a 52 years old woman and 12 years old girl, were from the villages of Qasre-Ghajar and Langar. A number of Saturday evening earthquake’s victims have been recovered from under the rubble, but it is unclear whether more citizens are still trapped under the rubble of the earthquake or not.

Regime’s Mehr News Agency said: “According to provide data some villages 30 – 60% have been damaged”. It is said that this earthquake was also felt as far as in Mashhad.

Another earthquake on Thursday, May 11th with a power of five degrees on the Richter scale also rocked Ardebil-Bilesavar that left 20 injured.
