The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Friday, October 9, 2020, that the Coronavirus fatalities in 458 cities across Iran had exceeded 119,400. The number of victims in Tehran is 28,511, Khorasan Razavi 8,970, Khuzestan 7,598, Isfahan 6,104, Mazandaran 5,502, Qom 5,150, Gilan 4,731, Alborz 3,265, West Azerbaijan 3,257, Hamedan 3,183, Kurdistan 2,156, Semnan 1,816, and Qazvin 1,141.

Iran’s legendary singer Mohammad Reza Shajarian passed away at 80, after a long bout with cancer. Thousands of people packed the streets outside the hospital where he died. The memorial for Shajarian turned into an anti-regime protest as people chanted “death to the dictator,” “death to Khamenei,” “May the dictator die, Shajarian will never die,” and “State TV is our national disgrace.”

A number of demonstrators gathered outside of the German Bundestag along with several German lawmakers, while others participated in the event remotely by way of streaming video. Many of their speeches emphasized the Iranian regime’s perennial abuse of capital punishment, in recognition of the event being deliberately scheduled just two days before the 18th annual World Day Against the Death Penalty.

On Wednesday, a number of current and former members of the European Parliament took part in an online conference. The politically diverse roster of participants represents a solid base of international support that has emerged for the Iranian opposition and its struggle for freedom in Iran outside of the country. That support has apparently been growing steadily since at least 2004, when the NCRI began holding international gatherings of Iranian expatriates and political dignitaries near its headquarters in France.

WHAT ARE THE IRAN PROTESTS OF 2019?

Saturday, October 10, 2020, marks the 329th day since the beginning of the nationwide Iran protests.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) has identified 755 of the more than 1500 protesters killed by the regime so far.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has called on the United Nations to urgently send an international fact-finding mission to Iranian prisons to meet with the detainees.
