NCRI – More than 450 students of Yazd University, central Iran, have suffered from food poisoning, reports indicated on May 8.

Poor food in the men’s dormitory has been cited as the cause of this food poisoning epidemic which has affected at least 451, according to state-run media.

Some 250 college students have been transferred to various hospitals. In an attempt to prevent protests by the college students and their families, the Iranian regime’s authorities have fired the contracting company providing services for the men’s dormitory.

On May 2, around 129 students of the Bahonar Tech University in Shiraz suffered food poisoning after eating dinner in the self-service cafeteria.

The regime’s Science Minister Mohammad Farhadi cited rotten food as the reason behind this case of food poisoning.

During the past few years, college students across Iran have protested poor food quality and low hygiene in universities and dormitories.
