NCRI – The U.S. Government has imposed new sanctions on Tehran Prisons Department for violating human rights and committing brutal crimes.
Additionally, the bipartisan Members of the U.S. Congress have welcomed the addition of Sohrab Soleimani (the brother of the Senior Officer, Ghasem Soleimani) on the U.S. Sanctions List.
Following the statement of the U.S Department of the Treasury regarding the sanctions, the Members of the U.S. Congress from both the Democratic and Republican parties stressed their support for prosecuting those who violate the basic rights of Iranian people.
Following the sanctions imposed by the U.S., the Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Ed Royce, stated that he feels delighted, as the U.S. Government has used its authority to impose sanctions on the Iran regime, which is responsible for violating human rights in the prisons of Iran.
The Chairman of the Committee on the Middle East and North Africa in the U.S. House of Representatives, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, referred to the letter written by the elites of the U.S. Congress to the American Minister of Justice, as well as their invitation to impose sanctions on those who violate the human rights in Iran. Ros-Lehtinen stated that she has joined Judge Ted Poe in order to urge the U.S. Department of the Treasury to impose sanctions against the violators of human rights in Iran.
Ms. Rose-Lehtinen also spoke about the sham election in Iran, stating that the Iranian people deserve democracy and freedom. She also referred to Ahmadinejad, Rouhani, and Khamenei, as well as the repressive regime that supports terrorism and dominates the people of Iran.
The Chairman of the Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade, Ted Poe, also expressed his approval since the U.S. Department of the Treasury took effective measures based on Poe’s letter sent on April 7th. As Judge Poe stated, the bipartisan members of the U.S. Congress wrote a letter to the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury. They addressed him and expressed their concerns regarding the blatant violations of human rights in Iran. The members suggested that effective measures should be taken against the Iran regime in this regard. They stressed that the Iran regime is constantly using the IRGC, Basij, and the disciplinary police to crush any opposition and thus deprives the people of the most basic rights and freedom.
The U.S. Government, the UN General Assembly, and all human rights organizations have consecutively reported about the devastating situation of human rights in Iran.
In their letter, the members of the U.S. Congress referred to the arrests of dual citizens in Iran, stating that according to the reports, the Iran regime is trying to obtain concessions from the related countries, such as lifting sanctions in exchange for releasing these dual citizens. Therefore, those arrested are actually hostages of the Iran regime; however, the International Convention against the taking of hostages prohibits this measure.
At the end of the letter, the members of the U.S. Congress addressed the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, stressing that imposing sanctions on the violators of human rights in Iran will not only retain the values and principles of the U.S., but it also gives credit to the U.S. government and fills the sanctions list. They are also waiting to prosecute those violators of the human rights and want to put them on the U.S. Sanctions List in order to support the people of Iran.
