Maryam Rajavi, expressing her condolences to the people of Khuzestan, said Ali Khamenei and Hassan Rouhani are primarily responsible for such extensive loss of lives of our compatriots. They have destroyed Iran’s most resourceful and wealthiest Province by their inhuman policies and caused the rise in the spread of the virus.
The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK) announced on Saturday, May 16, 2020, that the Coronavirus death toll in 318 cities in Iran has exceeded 42,100. The number of victims in Qom is 3,405, Khuzestan 2,750, Sistan and Baluchestan 1,265, Lorestan 1,155, and North Khorasan 482.
The situation in Khuzestan is critical, and the regime has reluctantly shut down 16 cities. Hospitals are full of patients, many of whom are in critical condition. In the past few days, more than 1,000 people have reportedly died in various cities in the province, which is under investigation.
A spokesman for the Health Ministry told the state-official TV today, “Nowhere in our country is there a normal situation … and we may not be able to declare a normal situation soon.” He added: “In Khuzestan province, we can assume the situation in most of the cities of the province is extraordinary.”
According to the official state news agency ISNA, today, Khuzestan’s Governor’s Office announced, “Unessential offices, banks, and guilds in 16 cities of Khuzestan have been closed until Monday, May 20, to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. The lockdown, includes cities of Ahvaz, Karun, Bavi, Hamidiyeh, Ramhormoz, Masjed-e-Soliman, Haftgel, Dashte Azadeghan, Mahshahr, Hendijan, Dezful, Shush, Shushtar, Gotvand, Abadan and Khorramshahr.”
The president of Ahvaz University of Medical Sciences told the official state TV, “After the reopening on April 11, the number of our patients has increased beginning April 21.”
Ferydoon Hemmati, regime’s governor in Hormozgan, told the state-run daily, Hamshahri today, “The increase in the spread of Coronavirus in Hormozgan in recent days is alarming.”
“We have a risk of COVID-19 in most parts of the country, especially in Tehran … The risk of the Coronavirus epidemic in Tehran metropolis has not diminished, and the epidemic wave is in place in Tehran,” said the head of infectious disease care at the Ministry of Health, quoted by the state-run daily, Javan, today.
Despite this, the regime’s National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT) announced today, “Schools in all levels of education across the country will be open for a month from today.”
While Khuzestan has become a killing field, in his speech today, Rouhani did not make the slightest mention of the Province, and shamelessly said, “From the first day we encountered the virus, we faced another danger, and I felt this danger from foreign media. I saw that they want to shut down the country with this disease and create havoc.” Defending the reopening of jobs and normalizing the situation, he announced that the places of worship would be opened after Ramadan, adding: “We have to prepare the people to live with Coronavirus for at least a few months.”
In another admission, Rouhani pointed to the lack of credibility of the regime’s patient testing and health system, about which he was bragging. “The infected person is a member of an organization. But he is assigned to another agency. He has tested positive. But he has tested negative in his own agency’s clinic and been told you can go to work… One agency uses a CT scan, and the other tests blood and saliva, or PCR or Serology. The individuals visit a physician and are told to put aside other methods, your lungs are fine; you are not infected,” Rouhani said.
Rouhani deflected assisting the deprived and those who have lost their jobs to the people. He said, “There are several other problems with which the people must help us… Some people have lost their jobs. We don’t have jobs. For some, employment becomes available in three months. Some other jobs will not resume for another month. They have checks. They have dignity; they are renters and must pay rent. The government cannot help them by itself.”
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), offered her condolences to the people of Khuzestan and blamed Khamenei and Rouhani as being primarily responsible for so many lives lost. They have destroyed Iran’s most resourceful and wealthiest Province and region by their inhuman policies and caused the rise in the spread of the virus, Mrs. Rajavi said, adding, today’s remarks by Rouhani reveal the chaos and incompetence of the regime and make it clear that regime leaders have absolutely no regard for the life and health of the Iranian people and are only thinking of preserving their despicable rule. Mrs. Rajavi urged everyone, especially the valiant youth in Khuzestan Province, to offer help in alleviating the pressures and pain endured by the deprived and the oppressed citizens.
