GCC Rejects Iran Regime’s Threats in the Region

Abdullatif-al-Zayani

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has rejected threats by officials of the Iranian regime against the GCC and other regional countries, considering them violations of diplomatic norms, Gulf News reported on Sunday.

In a statement released by the Council, GCC Secretary General Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani said threats by the Iranian regime’s officials contravene principles of good neighborliness and non-interference in internal affairs of other countries, as stated by the UN Charter. He added that Iran’s regime continued to interfere in the affairs of the GCC and regional countries including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and Yemen.

Al-Zayani noted that the Iranian regime’s actions reflect its hostile positions and its willingness to continue meddling in the affairs of countries of the region and provoke international forces to undermine security and stability of the region.

The GCC Chief called on the Iranian regime to reconsider its “negative policy” against countries in the region. He urged the international community to prevent Tehran from undermining regional peace and security.
