The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) announced this afternoon, March 28, 2020, that Coronavirus has taken the lives of more than 13,000 in 231 cities across Iran. The number of victims in Alborz 520, in Gilan is 1300, in Mazandaran is 1030, in Hamadan is 290, in Semnan is 90, in Khorasan Razavi is 1070, in South Khorasan is 33, and in Hormozgan is 20. This is in addition to the figures in other provinces.

Australian Supporters of Democracy in Iran, in a letter to Michelle Bachelet, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), while expressing solidarity with the coronavirus victims in Iran, which according to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) have surpassed 12,400, urged the UN to put pressure on the Iranian regime in order to release all prisoners, particularly political prisoners, as the disease continues to spread across Iran because of the regime’s inaction and cover-up.

Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll Reaches 12,400 in 228 Cities

NCRI’s Committee on Security and Counterterrorism has obtained documents from the regime’s Emergency Organization, making it palpably clear that Rouhani’s claim about learning of the Coronavirus cases in Qom on February 19 and that he had immediately informed the public is utterly false. According to these documents, a significant number of infected patients had been hospitalized not only in Qom but also in Tehran in late January.

Iran: Rebellion in Saqqez Prison, Prisoners Escape

On Friday, March 27, 2020, prisoners in the Saqqez Prison in Kurdistan rebelled in protest against the mullahs’ refusal to release them amid the Coronavirus outbreak. A large number of prisoners managed to escape after clashes with the IRGC forces and prison guards.

The IRGC-affiliated Fars News Agency reported that the 80 prisoners had escaped. Subsequently, repressive forces were deployed across the city to recapture fugitive prisoners. The regime was forced to dispatch forces from nearby towns to Saqqez to control the situation.

WHAT ARE THE IRAN PROTESTS OF 2019?

Saturday, March 28, 2020, marks the 135th day since the beginning of the nationwide Iran protests.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) has identified 755 of the more than 1500 protesters killed by the regime so far.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has called on the United Nations to urgently send an international fact-finding mission to Iranian prisons to meet with the detainees.
