Estonian politician releases video publicising ‘Free Iran’ rally in July

NCRI – Tunne Kelam, a Member of the European Parliament from Estonia’s Pro Patria and the Res Publica Union Party, announced in the video that European powers could no longer ignore the crimes committed by “so-called moderates” in the Iranian regime.

He cites their appalling human rights record as the main reason; according to the UN, there were over 1000 executions in 2015 alone. In fact, the rate of executions (including that of juveniles) has increased with the nuclear pact last year, providing “essentially no change” in the brutal regime.

Kelam is one of the 270 cross-party MEPs who signed a letter asking the EU to condition their trade and diplomatic relations with Iran on an improvement to human rights.

Kelam said: “We cannot proceed with our relationship with Iran, be it political, economic or social unless there is an improvement of the human rights situation in Iran.”

He also explained how Iran is “exporting terrorism” through its interference in the Syrian civil war to help Bashar al-Assad’s regime. It’s estimated that this has cost more than 250,000 civilian lives.

Kelam said: “[Iran’s regime] has been the root of extremists in the middle east, one of the causes of the presence of ISIS. It can’t be expected that Iranian leadership and allying or cooperating with it could be a remedy.”

The Free Iran rally will be held on July 9 in Paris. There, members of the Iranian Resistance will expose the evil nature of the government to policymakers, journalists, religious leaders, and civilians globally.
