Maryam Rajavi sends condolences for passing away of Italy’s Marco Pannella

NCRI – Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, has expressed her condolences for the passing away of renowned Italian human rights activist Marco Pennella.

Mrs. Rajavi described Mr. Pannella as a “great friend of the Iranian Resistance.”

Marco Pannella, who was the historic leader of Italy’s Radical Party and one of the most prominent Italian politicians, had over many years strongly supported the Iranian Resistance and the rights of the members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI or MEK) in Camp Ashraf and later in Camp Liberty, Iraq.

Between 1979 and 2009, Mr. Pannella was a Member of the European Parliament. From 1976 to 1994, he was a Member of the Italian Parliament.

He took part in the grand gathering of Iranians and their international supporters in Paris in support of democratic change in Iran last June, where he once again reiterated his solidarity with the Iranian people and Resistance to bring about democracy, freedom and human rights to Iran.

Mr. Pannella died on Thursday at the age of 86.
