In a message to Iranian women, Ms. Ward said: “On the occasion of International Women’s Day, I would like to send my best wishes to all the women in Iran and Iranian women all around the world who are struggling everyday for freedom, democracy and equality.”

“Women in Iran have shown that they are very strong and brave and they do not bow to torture and repression. They are seen at the forefront of all social and public campaigns to achieve democratic rights in Iran, and they have been an example to many other people, and to women in particular, all around the world.”

“I particularly want to salute my sisters in the ranks of the Iranian Resistance movement and especially Mrs. Maryam Rajavi who has been tirelessly leading the movement against all odds and who has today created a whole front of women from all corners of the world who are standing side by side with their Iranian sisters for freedom and equal rights,” she added.
