NCRI supporters hold vigil in Paris’ Place de la République

NCRI – Supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) held torches at a vigil in Paris’ Place de la République on Thursday, November 19 in memory of the 129 people killed in the French capital on November 13 in a spate of armed attacks claimed by the Islamic fundamentalist group ISIS (ISIL or Islamic State).

French citizens welcomed the vigil and held banners and sang France’s national anthem, the Marseillaise, as a sign of solidarity. A number of French people said they were very encouraged to see the Muslim women of the Iranian Resistance condemning the barbaric terrorist atrocity and pointing out that the terrorists responsible for the massacre in no way represented true Islam.

The Iranian dissidents, who also laid flowers at the site in honor of the victims of the Paris attacks, told the large numbers of journalists who were present covering the event that they support Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajavi and are opposed to Islamic fundamentalism and extremism.

Mrs. Rajavi’s supporters said that the removal of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad from power in Syria is a prerequisite for eliminating ISIS.

The statement issued by NCRI President-elect Mrs. Maryam Rajavi on November 13 immediately after the massacre was read out at the ceremony.
Mrs. Rajavi reiterated that fundamentalism in the name of Islam – whether under the banner of Shia and velayat-e faqih or under the banner of Sunni and Daesh – and their inhuman crimes have nothing to do with Islam, and this evil phenomenon, wherever it may be, is the enemy of peace and humanity.
