NCRI – The mullahs’ regime in Iran is depriving Kurdish political prisoner Zainab Jalalian of family visits.
Reports from Khoy Prison on September 30 indicated that she is being barred from seeing her family.
Ms. Jalalian is serving the eighth year of her prison term and has developed acute illnesses, including eye problems, in prison. Prison wardens are depriving her of proper medical treatment, a common notorious practice carried out against political prisoners.
Ms. Jalalian is currently held in a prison in the city of Khoy in Western Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran).
She was arrested in 2007 and underwent severe torture by agents of the Intelligence Ministry which resulted in damage to her eyes, and she is at risk now of completely losing her eyesight.
General physicians in the prison have told her that she needs surgery otherwise she will lose her vision.
Ms. Zainab Jalalian was born in 1982 in Maku, western Iran. She was tried in a secret court without any lawyer to defend her and was condemned to life imprisonment on the charge of armed struggle against the system. She has denied the charge and in recent years has staged multiple hunger strikes in protest to her condition.
