Iran’s political prisoners celebrate PMOI’s 50th anniversary

Gohardasht Prison

NCRI – Political prisoners in Iran’s notorious Gohardasht Prison on Sunday celebrated the 50th anniversary of Iran’s main opposition group, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI).

The celebration in Hall 12 of Gohardasht Prison (Rajaishahr Prison) in Karaj, north-west of Tehran, took place despite heightened suppression of political prisoners by the fundamentalist regime.

Ordinary prisoners being held alongside political prisoners in Hall 12 joined the celebration and congratulated the supporters of the PMOI (or Mujahedin-e Khalq, MEK) on the group’s 50th anniversary which was marked on Sunday.

PMOI (MEK) supporters in the hall collectively sang several of the group’s revolutionary songs and congratulated Iranian opposition leader Mrs. Maryam Rajavi and PMOI members in Camp Liberty on the anniversary.

The prisoners distributed sweets as part of their celebration.
