NCRI – At least three workers were killed and six others were injured Thursday morning in an explosion at Iran’s largest steel producer, a factory official said.

The incident took place at the second converter unit of the three converters at Esfahan Steel Company, the director of the company’s public relations told the state-run Tasnim News Agency.

He said the explosion, which took place at 3 a.m., was a workshop accident.

Esfahan Steel Company is located in the central city of Isfahan and is run by the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade.

In 2011, at least seven workers were killed and 12 others were injured in a similar incident at another steel production complex in the central province of Yazd.
