Iran: Imprisoned Dervishes continue hunger strike, despite health issues

NCRI – A number of Gonabadi Dervishes in various cities in the country continue their hunger strike in Evin, Gohardasht, Shiraz and Bandar-Abbas prisons.

The campaign began when the prison guards returned to prison two imprisoned Dervishes before receiving any medical treatment.

The Iranian regime’s State Security forces arrested at least 200 Dervishes on March 8 to prevent joining a gathering outside Tehran’s Prosecutors office, protesting suppression of the Dervish prisoners.

The gathering was announced from few days before in support of 10 Dervishes imprisoned in Tehran’s Evin Prison, Karaj’s Gohardasht Prison and in prisons in cities of Shiraz and Bandarabbas.

Dervishes on hunger strike have demanded medical treatment for the ill prisoners and the return of three exiled prisoners.

More than 2,000 dervishes across Iran have declared their solidarity with the prisoners demands.
