Iran: 12 prisoners executed in 6 days, 3 in public

execution2NCRI – The Iranian regime sent at least 12 prisoners to gallows in various cities across Iran in the six days from February 25 to March 2, raising the number of the executions to at least 150 since the beginning of 2014.

Six of the victims were executed secretly and three were hanged in public.

On March 2, seven prisoners were hanged in the prisons in the cities of Zahedan, Bandar-Abbas and Rasht.

Hassan Zolfaghari, 23, was executed secretly in the central prison in the city of Zahedan. Zolfaghari, a resident of Zabol, a town in the deprived province of Sistan-Balouchestan, was arrested when he was 17 and had spent six years in the mullahs’ medieval prisons.
On the same day, four other prisoners were executed secretly in a prison in the southern city of Bandar-Abbas.

Simultaneously, state-run media reported the execution of two prisoners, 28 and 30 years old, in northern city of Rasht. They were hanged in the city’s prison for committing an ”Acts Against Sharia Law’ (unlawful act), the reports said.’Acts Against Sharia Law’ includes a wide range ‘unlawful’ activities from consuming alcoholic drinks to any activity in opposition to the regime.

During the past two weeks, 10 prisoners have reportedly been executed in the Lakan prison of Rasht.
On February 27, Hossein Mohammadi, 31, a Kurd prisoner, was hanged in the central prison of Sanandaj.
On the same day, the state TV also announced the execution of a prisoner in city of Salmas in western Iran.
On February 25, two prisners were hanged in a prison in Semnan and three prisoners were hanged in public simultaneously in three different locations in Alborz province.

The regime’s judicial authorities said that these executions were carried out to “give a hard lesson and intimidate others.”

Distribution the shocking footage of a public hanging in Alborz province on the internet caused abhorrence against the clerical regime.

The Iranian Resistance calls on the international society to firmly condemn the arbitrary and collective executions that have risen extensively during Hassan Rouhani’s presidency.

The Iranian Resistance also demands that the dossier of gross and systematic violation of human rights by the mullahs’ regime be referred to the UN Security Council.
