Iran: Students defy regime with ongoing protests

Iranian students are continuing to defy security forces with protests at poor conditions and abuses of their rights at universities across the regime.

Students at Ilam University protested on January 30 at the lack of adequate dormitory services and the expulsion of a number of fellow students.

Engineering students at Khoram Abad University also staged a protest on the same day to object to the breakdown of the the university website, making it impossible for them to choose their classes.

Students of the Kermanshah Azad University staged a gathering outside the campus on January 28 in protest at high tuition fees which have deprived some youths of their education. The students have been threatened with expulsion if their demonstrations.

Students at Tehran’s Meli University protested in their dormitory on January 26 at poor conditions and a lack of electricity.

Students of Shahr Ray Azad University also demonstrated on campus on January 26 at high tuition fees and other expenses.

Students at Rasht University, in the province of Gilan, threw their lunch on the cafeteria floor in protest at the poor quality of university food.
