Iran protests latest-5,11,12 of January

January 12: Workers at the Razi Petrochemical Company have protested for the third time at prejudicial treatment of contract workers and employees, particularly over wages and the failure of employers to address their demands.

January 11: Workers at Iran’s tractor parts factory staged a protest outside the governor’s office in the city of Tabriz in anger at nine months of unpaid wages and bonuses and the failure of the authorities to answer their repeated demands.

January 11: Representatives of Khorasgan farmers in the city of Isfahan protested outside the governor’s office in anger at the shutting down of the water supply and failure of the authorities to pay them compensation. In fear of continuous protests, the governor met with the representatives but talks failed and the farmers continued their protest outside the Agriculture Organization.

January 11: Protesters gathered outside the Electricity Department ShahrKord in anger at power cuts and lack of heating facilities in winter throughout ShahrKord and outlying villages.

January 5: More than 100 truck drivers in the province of Kermanshah staged a protest against customs officials extorting money from them on a daily basis. Truck drivers claim that if they do not pay bribes, they are blocked for days in customs, and physically attacked if they complain.

January 5: Workers of Kamyab sugar cane factory in the city of Khomeini Shahr staged protest in the factory in anger at unpaid wages, the continuous halt of the production line and uncertain future of the factory that has lasted for almost 11 months and is putting their jobs at risk. The protesters then marched towards the governor’s office and continued their protest. One labor activist said production halted when the gas supply was cut off due to unpaid debts to the gas company.
