Head of the Iranian regime’s Atomic Energy Organization, Ali Akbar Salehi stated that: “We hope to witness a new digging take place for the start of a second power plant in the city of Bushehr in the next Iranian year [beginning March 21].”
“However, such a plan will take 7 to 8 months time,” he added.
Salehi did not mention anything about the next phase of his regime’s agreement with the IAEA and did not announce a specific time for it, but claimed that in mid-February, the third round of cooperation between Iran and IAEA will finish and a new phase will start.
The official reminded,“We must negotiate about the method of cooperation for the next stage in order to reach a specific framework.”
There have been safety concerns about the Bushehr plant.
Two diplomats claimed anonymously to press-agency AP, that recent earthquakes in April and May 2013 had caused a big crack in a wall of at least one of the buildings, the building that contains the reactor core however had no visible damage to it.
