Iran: Parents of 2012 deadly elementary school fire protest

NCRI – Members of Families of victims of the last year’s deadly fire at a girls’ elementary school in northern Iran gathered outside presidential palace to protest against the lack of care for their children.

The fire in a school in Shin-abad caused by explosion of old heater in the class of 4th grade killed 2 girls and seriously burned 35 others on December 5, 2012.

Under the pressure of public opinion, the authorities promised to take over the care for the wounded. Now, a year later, families protest the cessation of care due to the suspension of aid. This is the second such gathering being held by the families of victims.

In schools across the country, a number of fires have occurred in recent years causing several casualties among Iranian school children.
