Hunger strike ends after 108 days of self-sacrifice

Following the decision by a Spanish court against Faleh Fayad, National Security Advisor to Nouri al-Maliki, for crimes against the international community committed during his direct role in the September 1 massacre of 52 residents of Camp Ashraf and abduction of seven others, Mrs Maryan Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, urged the residents of Camp Liberty and Iranians in various countries to end their worldwide hunger strike.

The start of investigation into crimes committed by Faleh Fayad against Ashraf residents during the two massacres of April 8, 2011, and September 1, 2013, is a political victory achieved by the hunger strikers in Camp Liberty and around the world.

Faleh Fayaz, the Iraqi official who plays a key role in the suppression of Ashraf residents as head of the Ashraf Committee in the Iraqi Prime Ministry, was the person organizing all the atrocities and violations of the law committed against Ashraf residents.

Moreover, he has been in recent years the official boasting of his mistreatment of these dissidents of the Iranian regime as if they are his achievements on the battlefield.
The hunger strike, which succeeded in reflecting the reality of the September 1 massacre in Ashraf, succeeded in generating regional and global support for their cause.
This was demonstrated in expressions of support by various parliaments, international bodies and personalities.

During their confrontation with the hunger strikers, the government of al-Maliki, and Faleh Fayaz in particular, tried in any way they could to crush the resolve of the hunger strikers, especially those in Camp Liberty.

But their morale and sense of self-sacrifice only prompted praise from their regional and international supporters. It is a matter of pride that such a heroic and exceptional hunger strike has ended with such an important judicial decree that can now be considered the fruit of 108 days of heroic perseverance.
