Iran: After nuclear deal Khamenei resorts to saber-rattling slogans to silence internal disputes

NCRI – To silence internal disputes between various factions of his regime which have escalated into unprecedented dimensions following the Geneva nuclear agreement, Khamenei has resorted to the strategy of sager-rattling slogans of “To Jerusalem through Karbala”, flaring the inferno of exporting fundamentalism. Former Revolutionary Guards chief Yahya Rahim Safavi, now Khamenei’s military advisor, said in this regard, “God willing this strategy of ‘To Jerusalem through Karbala’ will be accomplished in the future. We do not just talk of slogans; we intend to take practical action.”

He described the inferno of the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s, which left 1 million dead and $1 trillion damages for Iran, as a “source of enlightenment and delight”, and went on to admit to yet another war crime in saying one million school kids were sent to the war fronts. “[Khomeini] was able dispatch around two million people to the battlefields during the war. These statistics are aside from the forces that had a duty to be present in the fronts… one million school kids were sent to the front lines,” he said.

In a hollow saber-rattling measure, intended to set everything clear for rival factions, he said, “Unfortunately, various internal elements do not understand that Iran in the past 34 years has become a regional power. The enemies, like it or not, must know the system in Iran is a dominant and steadfast system. Non-stable regimes like the Zionist and arrogant regime must now think of themselves because they are on the slope of downfall.”

The religious fascism regime ruling Iran, in the midst of internal crises and on the verge of complete economic bankruptcy, has been left no choice but to accept an imposed setback on its nuclear program. Thus, to confront the destructive consequences of this retreat inside its ranks and files and to prevent popular uprisings, this regime has on one hand amplified its range of killings and crackdown inside Iran and against its organized resistance, and on the other hand escalated its meddling in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen and other countries of the region into new dimensions.
