Iran: Schools closed in Tehran due to pollution

NCRI – The Iranian regime’s authorities close down Tehran’s schools for three day starting Sunday due to pollution, the state-run broadcaster said.

Also the working hours have been reduced for Monday and Tuesday as air pollution has reached alarming level.

The air pollution in Tehran is blamed on heavy traffic and use of domestically produced low quality gasoline.

A number of cities in Iran are considered to be the world’s highest polluted cities.

More than 50 people were hospitalized in a southern city of Ahwaz on November 5 where air pollution levels spiked this week.

At least 5,000 people rushed to the city hospitals in Ahvaz seeking medical assistance after pollution levels increased last week, the head of provincial health department has declared.
The Iranian city of Ahwaz is the most polluted city in the world, based on data compiled by the World Health Organization.

The list of the most polluted cities in the world published by the business news website Quartz includes names of four cities in Iran”: Ahwaz, Kermanshah, Sanandaj, and Yasouj.
